STORY STUFF - sample pages

“Story Stuff” is a resource designed for helping children with difficulties with oral    and written narrative. There are four chapters in the book and some examples of what each comprises is summarised below.

1.   Story Plans This chapter contains simple and complex story plans designed      
   

    for teaching oral and written narratives.

1. Story Pictures This chapter contains who, where, when, what and feelings      
   

    pictures which are designed to be used in conjunction with the story plans.

1. Conjunctions This chapter contains worksheets designed to teach a variety of conjunctions.
   

2. Feelings This chapter contains worksheets to teach children about different types of feelings and to use those feelings within a narrative framework.
   

SEQUENCING STUFF - sample pages

“Sequencing Stuff” was written by speech pathologists for people working with children on oral and written language skills. There are 4 chapters in the book and description of each is below.

1.   Simple Sequencing 10 simple situations have been broken down into 5 steps.    
   

    The goal is for the child to number the steps in order of occurrence. Blank plans  

    are also provided.

1.   Sequencing for Procedures This chapter aims to teach children how to write  
   

    procedures. Activities increase in complexity, building on skills learned. Blank  

    plans are also provided.

1.   Problem Solving and Sequencing Sentences This chapter looks at problem
   

    solving and sequencing events for stories. Blank plans for storytelling are also

    provided.

1.   Sequencing Activities This chapter provides fun activities for children to
   

    both following and writing procedures. Materials are provided for the

    activities, which means more time for fun and less for preparation.

“Conjunctions Stuff” is a resource book designed to help children learn to use conjunctions in their written and oral language. There are six chapters in each book including 5 different conjunction chapters and a final chapter with worksheets for all five.

Contains worksheets for the conjunctions “and”, “then”, “because”, “but” & “before”.

STORY STEPS sample pages

Story Steps takes all the great things from “Story Stuff” and adds more detail. The workbook builds children up from creating sentences to creating simple narratives. Along the way they learn to include descriptive words, practise using joining words, learn about story scaffolds and work on story completion and creation activities. Both oral and written activities are included.

The book is divided into 5 sections:

3. Adding describing words to stories
   

4. Creating stories with then + because
   

5. Creating longer stories
   

COMPLEX SENTENCE STUFF sample pages

“Complex Sentence Stuff” is a resource book that includes conjunctions (or, while, unless, although) and relative clauses (who, that, which).

It is a resource book designed to help children learn to use conjunctions in their written and oral language. There are five chapters in the book including 4 different conjunction chapters and worksheets for all four in a mixed chapter. This book also has a supplementary chapter on relative clauses. This targets children’s use of ‘who’, ‘that’ and ‘which’. Over 100 pages.

FIRST FACTS sample pages

First Facts is a resource that is great for teachers and Speech Pathologists. It guides children through different text types - descriptive text and writing reports. It has a games chapter that has a variety of oral language games suitable for individuals and whole classes. It helps children write topic sentences and guides them step by step through writing short descriptions and early reports. It also has a plans chapter that contains proformas for reports about animals, people, objects and places.

FINAL CONSONANT DELETION STUFF sample pages

This book is for Speech Pathologists only. It targets the process of Final Consonant Deletion for all stops (p/b, t/d, k/g) and fricatives (s, sh, f). It has worksheets for syllable level, word level, phrase level and sentence level.

FRONTING STUFF sample pages

This book is for Speech Pathologists only. It targets the process of Fronting. It has worksheets for syllable level, word level, phrase level and sentence level. A great program for ‘k’ and ‘g’ sounds. It works through syllable level, word level, phrase level and sentence level. It has a ‘k’ chapter and a ‘g’ chapter. It also provides pictures for all positions in words. It is designed to be quick and easy to use. Pages can also be used to take home for homework. It has 100 +  pages of worksheets.

HE & SHE STUFF sample pages

This book is for Speech Pathologists. "He and She Stuff" is used  to teach children to use the pronouns 'he' and 'she'. Worksheets are picture based and target receptive and expressive language use of these pronouns. Chapters include - understanding 'he' and 'she', creating simple sentences, creating sentences and using 'he' and 'she' in short stories. This book is for Speech Pathologists but worksheets can be used by Teachers, Aides and parents under the supervision of a Speech Pathologist.

FOLLOWING DIRECTIONS STUFF sample pages

This book is suitable for Speech Pathologists, parents and Teachers. "Following Directions Stuff" is used  to teach children to follow directions containing not, then, before and after. There are also chapters for medium level and complex level instructions which contain two part, three part and more than four element instructions. These chapters contain revisions for not, then, before and after but also contain other complex structures including while. Worksheets are picture based and easy to use. Chapters include - then, not, before, after, medium level instructions and complex level instructions.
